Conference of social science and policy research promoting industrialization and modernization period 2005-2015 and the next phase orientation
On 19/03/2016, in Hanoi, the Supervision Delegation of the National Assembly Standing Committee held a Conference of Social Sciences and Policy Research promoting industrialization and modernization period 2005- 2015 and the next phase orientation. Participants in the conference included representatives from the National Assembly, the leaders of some ministries, the Central Council, leaders of universities, research institutes and scientists, researchers across the country.
Addressing the conference, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Politburo Commissioner, Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly emphasized and defined the importance of science and technology in the development of the country, appreciated the role of social science and policy research provides the basis for feasibility studies for the construction of the economic development strategy - the country's society, as well as the strategic development of these sectors in the new image. Our Party has identified development of science and technology with the education and training is the first national policies, foundation and driving force of industrialization and modernization of the country. Parliament, the Government and the Ministries and localities have issued many legal documents to concretize the Party's guidelines for the development of science and technology. The annual state budget is 2% effort for the budget for science and technology.
The conference focuses on assessing the results achieved, the constraints and reasons; which proposed solutions and recommendations to improve the efficiency of development of science and technology, promote industrialization and modernization, which focuses promote supporting industry and mechanical engineering. Discussion at the conference, Dr. Tran Thi Mai Oanh –Director of the Health Strategy and Policy Institute has analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of the policy research, consulting and advocacy in the policy based on the evidence, as well as the effective deployment some policies. Thereby, proposing measures to improve the quality and efficiency of the use of evidence in policy making. On the sidelines of the Conference, the Health Strategy and Policy also exhibited the products of science, advocacy of the Institute; exhibition area has received more attention from the conference attendees.
Ending the conference, representatives of the National Assembly Standing Committee has emphasized that this is the first round of monitoring of the Committee on Science and Technology, this activity will be maintained through two terms in Congress XIII - XIV . Preliminary results of the monitoring period will be aggregated and reported in 5/2016, the final results will be reported to Parliament in 10/2016 for Parliament to discuss and the give out the resolution.
