Evaluation of training activities for commune health stations staff and village health workers in some provinces in the framework of the project sponsored by GAVI
The research "Evaluation of training activities commune health stations staff and village health workers in some provinces in the framework of the project sponsored by GAVI" is one of researches that Ministry of Health assigned to the Health Strategy and Policy Institute in order to assess the results of training activities of the project “Strengthening of the primary health care system – HSS” for health staff at the grassroots level on immunization practices and maternal health care for children. The research was carried out to 2 goals:
1. 1. Assessing knowledge and practice of commune health stations staff and village health workers after training in some provinces.
2. 2. Identify factors that affect educational outcomes and proposed solutions to improve the efficiency of training commune health stations staff and village health workers.
In June 2014, the collecting data operation are deployed in 4 provinces including Nghe An, Bac Kan, Ha Giang and Kon Tum. In each province, the research team worked with leaders of Department of Health; Organization provincial project implementation; College/vocational school in the province; Health centers/district hospitals and commune health stations of training content, training programs, the advantages and difficulties in the implementation of training activities, training for staff at health care facility. Besides, the commune health stations staff and village health workers directly involved and participated in a 6-9 months training courses were surveyed to assess the knowledge and practice after training. At the meeting, the research team noted many comments, feedback that has high practical content, the organization of implement training activities as well as the proposed better solutions to improve the training project in the future. In addition, the research team had the opportunity to directly observe the practice of immunization sessions as well as do practical examinations for pregnant women in some commune health stations.
The implementation activities completed on schedule with qualified information. This will provide a basis for evaluating the effectiveness of the project in improving knowledge and practice of health workers as well as offer suggestions and make necessary adjustments to improve the quality of training health medical facility in the next stage (2014-2015). The implementation activities also make recommendations for training health workforce in general basis, contributing to strengthening and enhancing the effectiveness of operation of primary health care in the future.
