Health Technology Assessment Methods Training workshop
According to the framework of Health Technology Assessment (HTA) Development Plan, once topics for HTA were nominated the assessment of selected ones would be conducted with the technical support of HITAP, Thailand. In preparation for that, Health Strategy and Policy Institute organized Training Workshop on HTA Methods for HTA implementing agencies/institutions in Vietnam from June 30 – July 4, 2014.

The training workshop was organized in order to provide the research team with relevant HTA methods and technical issues to develop proposals for the assessment of nominated topics in the period 2014 – 2015. Participants of the training workshops were 14 members of HTA technical group from 4 agencies/institutions (HSPI- 8 staff, Hanoi Medical University -2 staff, Hanoi School of Public Health - 03 staff, and Vietnam Health Economics Association -01 staff). Lecturers of the training were staff of HITAP, Thailand. During the training, apart from lectures on methodological issues, lecturers also exchanged and shared HITAP’s experiences in conducting HTA studies. After the workshop, 3 research proposals of 3 HTA topics and their implementation plans in 2 years 2014 – 2015 were developed, including: (1) Economic evaluation of interferon and pegylated- interferon for treating chronic hepatitis C; (2) Using Trastuzumab for treatment of breast cancer; and (3) Assessment of MRI utilization in Vietnam. As planned, 2 studies on medicines are to be finished in June and MRI one will be complete at the end of next year. Research team will conduct studies with the technical support of HITAP, Thailand.
