Project “Non-state sector studies for Health in Vietnam”: strengthen state managementfor non-state medical and pharmaceutical practitioners; develop communication package for two selected districts.

Within framework of project “Non-state sector studies for Health in Vietnam” funded by the Rockefeller Foundation, which has been being conducted in Binh Dinh and Hai Duong province, the Health Strategy and Policy Institute (HSPI) has been collaborating with two Provincial Department of Health (Hai Duong and Binh Dinh) and two District Health Bureau (of Kim Thanh, Hai Duong and Hoai Nhon, Binh Dinh) in implementing a number of intervention activities in regard to strengthening state management; providing information of relevant legal documents and professional knowledge for non-state medical and pharmaceutical practitioners as well as improve awareness and knowledge of community in choosing and using good health services.

After a year of implementing intervention with certain preliminary findings, in 30-31/10 and 08/11/2013, HSPI continued to work with leaders of Provincial Department of Health and leaders of district bureau in two provinces and its study districts on following contents:
- Review and discuss on granting professionalcertificate and operational license for non-state medical and pharmaceutical practitioners and facilities on provinces;
- Finalise Register model of monitoring medical and pharmaceutical acitivities for non-state medical and pharmaceutical facilities on provinces;
- Finalise comunication plan for community on study districts.

In the end of the meeting, HSPI had finalized the comunication plan on two study districts, finalizedRegister model of monitoring medical and pharmaceutical acitivities, andobtain necessary information to provide a basis for monitoring and implementing interventions in the future.
