Objectives: Identify and analyze the cultural factors affecting health care activities for people in Thanh Tung commune, Thanh Mien district, Hai Duong province.
Subjects: Managing staff, leaders, village health workers and households.
Methods: Collection of available information, in-depth interview, group discussion and survey using questionnaires.
Findings: The cultural factors affecting health in the Cultural Village include 10 issues: (1) Environment hygiene; (2) Hygienic water use; (3) Building and using hygienic toilets; (4) Building and using hygienic bathrooms; (5) Proper use of muck; (6) Safety in chemical use; (7) Prevention from food and drink poisoning; (8) Realisation of health criteria; (9) Prevention of social evils; (10) Realisation of the programme of prevention from accidents and injuries.
Recommendations: It is necessary to reinforce the role of the authorities in the construction of Cultural Villages; Carry out communication and education programmes in the community; Mobilize people in building and improving hygienic constructions; Mobilize and inspect the hygiene condition of houses, hygienic food consumption.
