Training workshop “Provider Payment Systems: Overview and International experience” December 17-20, 2012
In the framework of the activity “National Assessment of Provider Payment Systems in Vietnam” supported by World Bank and Joint Learning Network (JLN), Health Strategy and Policy Institute (HSPI) organized training workshop “Provider Payment Systems: Overview and International experience” on December 17- 20, 2012 at the Institute. Objective of the training workshop is to enhance capacity of HSPI’s staff and related agencies in doing research and implementing provider payment methods (PPM) according to Health Insurance Law, contributing to improvement of health service provision for the insured. The training workshop was facilitated by JLN’s expert, Dr. Cheryl Cashin. Participants of the workshop came from related departments of Ministry of Health (Planning – Financing Department, Health Insurance Department), Vietnam Social Security, Hanoi School of Public Health, Hanoi Medical School, Vietnam Health Economics Association and researchers of HSPI. In the first day of the workshop, overview of different PPM, international experience and good practice in their implementation were introduced. Besides that, representative of Vietnam Health Economics Association and HSPI research team shared information on the lessons learnt from pilot of Case-based hospital payment and DRGs and experience with capitation in Vietnam compared to international experience. In the rest days of workshop, HSPI team and Dr. Cheryl Cashin worked on JLN PPM Diagnostic and Assessment Guide developed by international leading experts and contextualized the assessment guide to Vietnam.
