Vu Thi Minh Hanh – Vice Director of the Health Strategy and Policy Institute Program attended the program "Health Stories" with the theme “Relieve pressure in the relationship between doctors and patients” This is a hot topic of social being interested. This is a hot topic being social concern.
In order to tackle the pressure in the relationship between doctors and patients, said MS. Vu Thi Minh Hanh, the hospital should have a group of social workers, who serve as a bridge between the doctors and patients. Social work is not a new profession in the world but is still relatively new for Vietnam. Social work profession in Vietnam officially recognized from 2010 after the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 32/2010 /QD-TTg on 25/3/2010. Social work in the health sector has also been formed shortly afterwards when the Ministry of Health issued the scheme “Development of social work profession in the health sector for 2011-2020”. In the hospital, the social worker will accompany, support effectively in the work of healthcare. Social workers will participate in supporting the patients, medical staff in classification, counseling, referral services, support patient care ... contribute significantly reducing the load of the difficulties in the process the examination and treatment. Currently, the social working unit in the hospital has many practical activities such as guiding medical procedures to the necessary departments, alleviate the suffering the patient's illness, listening opinions and thoughts in order to reflect to the doctor and the hospital leadership, creating a sympathetic, coherence between patients - the hospital - patients' relatives, contribute to the patient satisfactions. In order to further promote the role of social work in hospitals, and to social workers have professional titles of medical personnel structure and the organizational structure of the hospital, on 26/11/2015, the Ministry of Health has issued Circular 43/2015/TT-BYT regulation on the tasks and forms of organization to perform the tasks of social work of the hospital. This Circular takes effect from 1/1/2016, will be assessed to establish “new position” of the social workers in the hospital...
