Working with Brien Holden Vision Institute (dated 04/03/2015)
On 03/04/2015, Deputy Director of the Health Strategy and Policy Institute – Ms. Vu Thi Minh Hanh with researchers from Department of Social Health had a working session with Brien Holden Vision Institute.
Brien Holden Vision Institute (formerly known as the International Centre for Eye Care Education, abbreviated as ICEE) was founded in 1998, in Australia. Since its establishment, the Brien Holden Vision Institute has been active in the development of refractive services globally from providing refraction services and training refraction members to develop greater capacity for local partners. The key strategy of Vision Institute is to develop training programs for the refractive ophthalmology and where there is no provision of the necessary resources to facilitate support for the training process, thereby providing resources skilled human resources to serve those in need. In our country, the representative office of the Brien Holden Vision Institute has carried out many activities such as training bachelor refractive ophthalmology; support the Eye-care Centre of Ba Ria - Vung Tau perform activities in provide community eye-care, more prominent is the eye care school ... (through project support eye health Vietnam - Australia). For the purpose of consultation on health policy in the field of eye care and refractive development services in Vietnam, Head of Representative Office of Brien Holden Vision Institute in Vietnam, Huynh Phuong Ly and his colleagues had a working session with Ms.Vu Thi Minh Hanh and researchers from Department of Social Health.
At the meeting, Ms. Vu Thi Minh Hanh introduced the position, role, functions and organizational structure of the Health Strategy and Policy Institute. Huynh Phuong Ly expressed a wish in the future the Institute will be the partner on counseling advocacy for human resources training industry refractive ophthalmology and development of refractive services in Vietnam. Talking to Head of Representative Office Brien Holden Vision Institute of Vietnam, Vu Thi Minh Hanh said the Health Strategy and Policy Institute will support the Brien Holden Vision Institute in advocacy policy in the field of training of human resources for refraction Ophthalmology in Vietnam such as: carry out investigations in order to provide the scientific evidence relating to the burden of disease caused by refractive errors, workshops advocacy related to refractive ophthalmology training ... At the end of the work, Head of Representative Office Brien Holden Vision Institute in Vietnam thanked the cordial reception of the Institute’s leaders and expressed their desire that two Institutes will soon have the co-operation of the related content advocacy for the construction and development of refractive ophthalmology training in Vietnam.
