Novartis collaborates with the Health Strategy & Policy Institute - Ministry of Health to develop “Key Performance Indicators and Implementation Guidebook for strengthening primary healthcare at the grassroot health” (29/09/2022)

On 21st September 2022, the Health Strategy & Policy Institute - Ministry of Health and Novartis signed a collaboration agreement on i) developing key performance indicators for monitoring, supervision and direction the operation of the grassroot healthcare facilities and ii) Implementation guidebook for the community-based noncommunicable diseases management model as aligned with the Ministry of Health strategy and programs.


SUNI-SEA baseline survey in ninh binh province (07/05/2021)

In late 2020, the kick-off workshop of the Scaling-up NCD Interventions in South-East Asia (SUNI-SEA) project was organized in Ninh Binh province. Following the workshop, the Health Strategy and Policy Institute (HSPI), in collaboration with Thai Nguyen University of Medicine and Pharmacy (TUMP) and Ninh Binh Department of Health (DOH), conducted the baseline survey in four districts of Ninh Binh province (Yen Mo, Gia Vien, Tam Diep city and Ninh Binh city) with two phases in the first quarter of 2021.


The local stakeholder consultation workshop of the SUNI-SEA project in Ninh Binh - 2020 (19/02/2021)

In 2019, the Health Strategy and Policy Institute (HSPI), in collaboration with local and international partners, has developed and implemented the project named Scaling-up NCD Interventions in South-East Asia (SUNI-SEA). The project has received financial and technical support from the European Union’s Horizon 2020. To date, the Vietnam team has completed a retrospective study and a situation assessment in some provinces. Based on the results of the retrospective phase, the team developed an intervention framework aiming to strengthen the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in the community. The project is planned to be conducted in Ninh Binh and Hai Phong.


Capacity assessment of commune health workforce in treatment and management of hypertension and diabetes in Tuyen Quang and Thai Binh (04/01/2021)

In order to provide evidence informing the policies on building the capacity of grassroots health workforce, and thereby improving the performance of CHSs in treatment and management hypertension and diabetes, the Health Strategy and Policy Institute (HSPI) conducts a study on assessing the capacity of health workforce and resource availability for the treatment and management of hypertension and diabetes at CHS. The study was planned to implement in Tuyen Quang, Thai Binh and Ha Tinh provinces.


Transforming breast cancer diagnoses in Vietnam (03/04/2020)

Early cancer detection is key, and it depends entirely on accurate breast image reading by radiologists. Early detection of breast cancer and accurate diagnosis is therefore so important to improving treatment efficacy and patient prognosis. Currently, diagnostic accuracy in detecting abnormalities on mammograms in Vietnam is around 50%, and we must to look for ways to improve this rate.


Kick-off workshops to establish Technical Working Groups under the Health Partnership Group - December 16-17, 2019 (19/02/2020)

The workshop on launching the TWG on NCD prevention and control was hosted by the General Department of Preventive Medicine (GDPM) on December 17, 2019. This group is operated under the coordination of the HPG with the involvement of MOH departments/institutes, international agencies (WHO, WB, FHI 360, etc.) and relevant stakeholders.


SUNI-SEA European Team visit to Viet Nam (27/12/2019)

With the financial and technical support of the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation program, the Health Strategy and Policy Institute (HSPI) has collaborated with international and domestic partners to develop a multi-national project in three countries: Vietnam, Indonesia and Myanmar in the period of 2019-2022, namely “Scaling-up NCD interventions in South-East Asia (SUNI-SEA)”. In Viet Nam, the project is conducted through the cooperation between the HSPI, the HelpAge International in Viet Nam (HAIV) and the Thai Nguyen University of Medicine and Pharmacy (TNUMP).


Post-training assessment of primary health care teams at commune health stations in Yen Bai Province - Health Professionals Education and Training for Health System Reforms Project (HPET) (13/05/2019)

The Health Professionals Education and Training for Health System Reforms Project (HPET) that is co-funded by World Bank and European Union have been implementing under the management of Ministry of Health (MOH) from 2014 to 2020. Capacity building of primary health care (PHC) teams on the basis of family medicine approach is one of the key components of the project. From 2018 to 2020, the project has been conducting short-term training courses specifically designed for each professional title of PHC team members working at commune health stations (CHSs) in 15 provinces of the project.
