On 03/23/2015, in Ho Chi Minh City, the delegation of the Ministry of Health leading by the Deputy Minister of Health - Nguyen Viet Tien, had a meeting with leaders of the Health Department of Ho Chi Minh City, representing the Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs about the development plans model of social work in hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City. Joining the delegation had Mr. Tran Viet Hung - Deputy Director of the Department of Officials Organizations, Ms. Vu Thi Minh Hanh – Deputy Director of the Health Strategy and Policy Institute, the Health Strategy and Policy Institute’s researchers and the experts from the Department of Officials Organizations. Attending the meeting were representatives of the United Nations Children's Fund.
On 14/03/2015, the Health Strategy and Policy Institute held a conference on reporting the assessment results on the intervention studies on private sector in Vietnam, with the participation of delegates in and out the health sector from Binh Dinh and Hai Duong, two provinces are conducting research. The evaluation results have received the consensus of the participants of the conference. At the end of the conference, the stakeholders agreed on the existing problems after the intervention, discuss solutions and policy advocacy plan in the near future.
Inequalities in health and health care is a major challenge to most countries worldwide. The study showed that disadvantaged groups (the poor, ethnic minorities in remote areas) prone to get sick and die with higher rates, they have greater health care needs but they are using health services at a lower rate than other groups in society.
On the 1st of October 2014, Health Strategy and Policy Institute organized a final review meeting of the study “Assessment of actual benefits and out-of-pocket payments of the insured at public health facilities”. Principal researchers of the study are Dr. Hoang Thi Phuong and Dr. Khuong Anh Tuan.
October 3, 2014, the Science Committees of the Health Strategy and Policy Institute conducted an appraisal outline meeting for research projects named “A baseline study for the current situation of violence towards public health workers at the workplace and policy proposals”. MA. Vu Van Hoan, Deputy Director of Department of Health and Human Resources was the chairman of the topics.
Within the framework of the revised capitation pilot project according to the Decision No. 5380/QĐ–BYT issued on December 30th, 2013 by Minister of Health, Health Strategy and Policy Institute (HSPI) was assigned as a focal point of the monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of the pilot implementation and results.
In 2 days 06-07/08/2014, the Ministry of Health (MoH) organized review meeting of the first 6 month implementation of health insurance payment mechanism by capitation pilot at La Thanh hotel, Hanoi. General objective of the pilot is to develop and pilot revised options of capitation (determine a range of services reimbursed by capitation, calculate the base rate, calculate coefficients, calculate capitation funds for commune health stations, allocate and use the funds) to provide scientific evidences and practices for the reform of health insurance payment method by capitation which regulated in Circular No.09/2009/TTLT-BYT-BTC.
According to the framework of Health Technology Assessment (HTA) Development Plan, once topics for HTA were nominated the assessment of selected ones would be conducted with the technical support of HITAP, Thailand. In preparation for that, Health Strategy and Policy Institute organized Training Workshop on HTA Methods for HTA implementing agencies/institutions in Vietnam from June 30 – July 4, 2014.
